Galaxy Steel Centre

If you find yourself in Kalbadevi, look for the Cotton Exchange Building and then look across the road to Kansara Chawl. That’s where Galaxy Steel Centre is located at number 134. It’s an old part of Mumbai, so the building has that specific character you only find in these areas. Space is a luxury here. We have steel rods, tubes, and sheets squeezed into every available inch of our shop. Moving things in and out is like a puzzle every time a truck arrives. The street is always packed with carts and people rushing somewhere, so everything takes a little longer than it should. We spend our days measuring metal, cutting it to size, and talking to customers who have been coming to this market for decades. It’s hot, cramped, and noisy, but there’s a certain rhythm to it that we like. We don't have a website with flashy photos or anything like that. What you see is what you get. The walls are a bit faded and the ceiling fans creak, but we get the orders filled. It’s a community of metal traders here, and we are just one part of that old network. We keep our records in thick books and drink way too much cutting chai while we wait for the next delivery to arrive. It is a busy life, but it is what we know how to do best.
