G. M. Breweries Ltd.

G. M. Breweries Ltd. is based at Ganesh Niwas on Veer Sawarker Marg in Prabhadevi. It is an old-fashioned spot in a part of Mumbai that never seems to go quiet. The office isn't something out of a magazine. It's just a bunch of rooms filled with desks and people working on the brewing business. We have been in Prabhadevi for years, and we've seen the neighborhood change quite a bit, but our building stays mostly the same. The walls are a bit plain and we have stacks of papers everywhere because that is just how we keep track of things. It’s a very busy street outside, so there is always the sound of horns and people shouting. We don’t mind it much. Most of our workers live in the surrounding areas, so there’s a real local feel to the place. We don’t have any of those modern open-plan offices; it’s more traditional with cabins and separate sections. We spend our days dealing with the distillery logistics and making sure the bottles get where they need to go. It is hard work and it isn't always pretty. Sometimes the fans make a bit too much noise and the windows need a good cleaning, but the work is steady. We don't have a mission statement on the wall or anything like that. We just show up, do what needs to be done for the business, and go home. It’s a straightforward way to run a company for the people who work here.
