Friends Metal

Friends Metal is over in Andheri East, specifically on Mahakali Caves Road. If you know the area, we are right opposite Nelco in the Rambaug part. It is a busy stretch of road and there is always noise from the traffic passing by. We deal with all sorts of metal items here. The shop is usually a bit cluttered because we have sheets and rods and scraps coming in and going out all the time. It is a dusty kind of work, and our hands are usually dirty by the end of the shift. We have been in this spot for a good number of years. It’s not a large place, but we make use of every inch of space we have. Working in Mumbai, you get used to the cramped quarters and the fast pace. People from the nearby industrial units come by when they need something specific for a repair or a project. We don't have a big team, just a few of us who know where everything is kept. Sometimes it takes a minute to dig out a piece of metal from the bottom of a pile. We stay open pretty late most days because the work in this part of town doesn't really stop. There are no fancy signs or lights here, just the work and the metal. We just try to get the orders sorted and help the people who walk in off the street without making a big deal out of it.
