Free Lance Sailing

Free Lance Sailing is run out of F 601 on Jvv As Marg, over in the Powai area of Mumbai. Powai is a nice spot, especially with the lake nearby, which makes sense for what we do. We aren’t some massive corporation with hundreds of employees. It’s more of a personal setup where we handle the details for sailing and boat-related things. The office is really just a flat where we keep the maps, the schedules, and the gear lists. It’s a bit lived-in, with papers here and there and maybe some coffee mugs on the table. We spend a lot of time thinking about the water and the boats, even when we are stuck behind a desk in 400076. It’s a bit of a climb to the sixth floor, but the view is alright. People who come by usually just want to talk about getting out on the water. We don’t have a fancy receptionist or a lobby. You just come in and we talk about whatever needs doing for the next trip. Mumbai is a coastal city, so there’s always a bit of that salt air in the back of our minds. We keep things informal because sailing isn’t really about being stiff and formal anyway. It’s just about getting things ready so people can enjoy themselves. It’s a simple business, run by people who actually care about the sea and how to navigate it. It's a good way to spend our time.
