Flavours is tucked away on the sixth floor of the Rachna Mandir building in Santacruz West. We are right across from the Ramkrishna Mission on Airport Road, which is a really peaceful area despite the planes going over now and then. Getting up to the sixth floor gives us a bit of a view of the neighborhood, which is nice when things get hectic during the lunch rush. We aren't one of those fancy places with white tablecloths and tiny portions. We just serve food that we like to eat ourselves. The kitchen is always humming with noise and there is usually a good smell of spices in the hallway before you even get inside. Our staff has been together for a long time, so we work like a family, even when we argue over who forgot to refill the salt shakers. People come here because they know what to expect and they like the atmosphere we've built over the years. It is a bit of a climb if the lift is being slow, but most people don't seem to mind. We try to keep things simple and honest. We source what we can from the local markets and just cook it the way we were taught. It is a busy life running a place like this, but seeing the same people come back week after week makes it feel worth the effort. We don't do much on social media, we just let the food speak for itself.
