Firoz Steel Traders is right in Charni Road, located at Shop No K/1 in Kharwa Galli. If you’ve ever been to Mehe, you know how narrow and crowded these lanes can be. Our shop is filled with steel in all shapes and sizes. It’s a bit of a squeeze getting around the stacks of pipes and sheets. The air always smells like cold metal and sometimes a bit of rust. We’ve been here for years, and the shop shows its age. The floor is scratched up from moving heavy loads, and the walls have marks everywhere. We don’t have any air conditioning, just a couple of heavy-duty fans that blow the dust around. It’s a loud place because of the metal clanging and the traffic right outside the door. We usually stand near the front to talk to the truck drivers and the local builders who come in. There’s a small wooden desk in the corner where we keep the ledger books. Everything is done the old-fashioned way here. We don’t have a website or anything like that. People just know where we are. Usually, we have a few guys helping with the loading and unloading throughout the day. It’s hard work, and we are usually covered in some kind of grime by the time we close up. But it’s the life we know, right here in the heart of the steel market.
