We are over at unit 101 in Andheri. Fabmakers is the kind of place where you’ll always hear the sound of machines running. It’s a workshop, so it isn't very clean or quiet. There is usually metal dust on the floor and scraps piled in the corners. We started this because we like the process of actually making things with our hands. It’s a lot of hard work and we often go home with dirty clothes and tired arms. We don’t have a fancy office up front or a person to answer the phones. If the bell rings, one of us just wipes our hands and goes to see who it is. The area around us in Andheri is always crowded, which makes it a bit difficult to move larger items in and out, but we make it work somehow. Some days are better than others. Sometimes a machine breaks down right when we have a deadline, and we have to spend all night fixing it ourselves. We don't have any big marketing plans or glossy brochures to show people. We just show them what we’ve built lately. It’s a practical business run by people who actually know how to use the tools. We’ve been at this for years and we plan to stay right here at 101 for a long time more. It’s just honest, daily labor for us and we take pride in getting the job done right without a lot of talking.
