Exim India Pvt. Ltd. is tucked away on the 3rd floor of 52/54 Mint Road. If you know Fort, you know how crowded it gets around the GPO and the Citi Finance building across from us. It’s an old part of the city, and the building reflects that history. There’s no elevator that you’d want to rely on every single time, so we get our exercise walking up those three flights. Our space is usually filled with files and the smell of old paper mixed with whatever is blowing in from the street. Being near the GPO is handy for us because we’re always sending things out or waiting for documents to arrive. The noise from Mint Road is constant, but you stop hearing it after a few months. We deal with the nuts and bolts of international trade. It’s a lot of double-checking numbers and making sure the shipping details are right. We aren't trying to be the biggest company in Mumbai, just a team that stays on top of the work. Sometimes the monsoon makes things a bit messy, or the traffic makes a simple trip take an hour, but we stay put and keep moving the files. It’s a busy life here in Fort, but we wouldn’t really want to be anywhere else. There is a certain kind of energy on Mint Road that keeps us going.
