Essentially Metal

Our office is located at Facile Towers on Victoria Road. It’s a central spot, and if you know this part of town, you know it can get pretty congested during rush hour. Essentially Metal is exactly what the name suggests—we deal with metal. Whether it's furniture or custom pieces, this is where the planning happens. The office itself is more about function than style, though we do have some of our own metalwork around the place. It’s a bit noisy sometimes because of the traffic outside on number 76. We are a group of people who enjoy the process of making things. You won’t find anyone in suits here. Most of us are in jeans, leaning over drawings or talking to the workshop on the phone. The desks are usually covered in sketches, samples, and the occasional coffee stain. We don’t have a big philosophy or a fancy mission statement on the wall. We just try to make things that last and look decent. There’s a lot of back-and-forth about designs and how to get the finish right. It’s a hands-on kind of business even when we are sitting in the office. People come and go, deliveries arrive, and we just keep moving through the day's list. It is a straightforward shop where the focus is on the material and the craft. It’s nothing more, nothing less. We just work hard and let the finished metal pieces speak for themselves.
