We are tucked away in the Aba Mane Compound, right off Dockyard Road in Mazgoan. It’s an old part of the city, and the compound at No. 20/21 has seen a lot of history. Clasicraft Company has been running out of this space, and it gets pretty cramped when we have a lot of work going on. The salt air from the docks makes things feel a bit different here. We do a lot of hands-on work. There’s usually sawdust or scrap material on the floor by noon, no matter how much we try to keep it tidy. It’s a busy neighborhood with all the shipping activity nearby, so there’s always a lot of noise from the trucks and the trains. We don't have a big sign out front or a fancy lobby. You just walk into the compound and find us. The light isn't always great in the back of the workshop, but we’ve got enough lamps to see what we’re doing. Most of us have been working together for years, so we don’t need to talk much to get the job done. We just know who does what. It’s not the kind of place where you’ll find people in suits. We wear old clothes that we don’t mind getting dirty. When the day ends, we lock up the shutters and head for the station with everyone else. It’s simple, honest work in a busy corner of Mumbai. The local cats often wander into the workshop looking for scraps, and we usually have a few biscuit pieces.
