Dinesh Foundry

Dinesh Foundry is tucked away in the Pareira Compound near the telephone exchange in Sakinaka. If you know this area, you know how tight the lanes can be, especially in the Gali off A.K. Road. It is a bit of a squeeze to get a truck in here, but we manage somehow. The foundry itself is a hot place, there is no way around that when you are melting metal. We have a couple of furnaces that stay going for most of the day and the smell of the charcoal and hot iron is always in the air. We are right in the middle of Safed Pool, which is a very busy part of Andheri. It is loud and crowded, and our shop fits right in with the rest of the neighborhood. We don't have a big sign or anything flashy out front. Most people find us because they have been told we are back here in the compound. The walls are stained with soot and the floor is uneven, but it is a working foundry, not a showroom. Our workers are usually covered in some kind of dust by noon, but they are used to it. We just take the orders as they come, melt the metal, and pour it into the shapes that are needed. It is hard work and the hours are long, but we have been doing it this way for a long time now and it works.
