Our shop is located at 137/139 Khetwadi, right in the thick of the steel market. If you know this area, you know how crowded and loud it gets with all the trucks and metal being moved around. We deal in various steel products, mostly trading bits and pieces for construction or small workshops. The air here always smells a bit like rust and oil. We don't have a fancy glass front or an air-conditioned waiting room. It’s just a ground floor space with heavy racks and a small desk for the ledger. Most of the day is spent checking weights and talking to loaders. My clothes usually have a bit of grease on them by the time I head home. Khetwadi is a maze of lanes, so if it's your first time, you might get lost. We’ve been at this same spot for years and the neighbors are all in the same line of work. Sometimes the rain leaks a little near the front shutter, but we just move the stock back. It’s hard work, lifting and moving heavy rods or sheets all day. We don't use any fancy software, just a pen and a notebook to keep track of who owes what. It’s a basic business run by people who know steel. There’s no point in making it sound like something it isn't. We just focus on getting the right metal to the right person at a fair price.
