Down here at Dcrepes Cafe on Mangesh Shenoy Street, specifically at the 2nd Cross on U M Lane, we’ve been running this cafe for a bit now. It’s a bit of a hidden spot, 21/22 is the number if you’re looking for the door. We spend most of our time mixing batter and watching the flat griddles. Crepes are a bit finicky if the heat isn't just right, so there's always someone hovering over the stove. The space is a bit tight, especially when we have a few orders going at once and the steam starts rising. We’ve got some tables but they’re small, just enough for a quick bite. People find us mostly by word of mouth or because they live in the buildings nearby. Morning times are usually quiet, just the sound of the fridge humming and us getting the fruit chopped up. By the afternoon, the lane gets a little noisier with bikes passing by. We don't have a big team, just a few of us who know how to handle the spatulas without tearing the thin dough. It’s a lot of standing on your feet all day, but it’s okay. The neighborhood is alright, mostly quiet except for the usual city sounds. We just focus on getting the orders out and keeping the place tidy. If you're walking through the 2nd Cross, you'll probably smell the batter cooking before you see the sign. It’s a nice little corner to work in every day.
