Darpan Steels Company is tucked into the Dhobi Building over on 3rd Khumbharwada. If you’ve ever walked down Dr. M.G. Mahimtura Marg, you’ve probably seen the chaos of the steel trade in this part of the city. We have been in this building for a long time. It’s not a modern glass office, just a solid place where we get the job done. We deal with various types of steel, mostly for industrial use. The halls of the building are always humming with activity. We spend a lot of time on the phone or talking to the laborers who move the heavy loads. Space is tight here, so we have to be smart about how we stack things. There is always a smell of grease and metal in the air, which you get used to after a week. We don't have any big slogans or shiny brochures to give out. People just come here because they know we have the stock on hand. Sometimes we share tea with the neighbors while waiting for a delivery to arrive. It’s a lot of manual work and checking measurements. We try to keep things honest and straightforward with everyone who walks through the door. It isn't a glamorous business, but it's ours, and we’ve been part of this neighborhood's fabric for many years now.
