Crane Craft Engg. Works

Our workshop is based in Solanki Bhawan, which is on Dr. R.P. Road in Mulund West. It is No. 4/5. The building has been there for years and it suits our engineering work just fine. We handle a lot of different tasks related to cranes and heavy machinery. The floor is usually covered in a bit of grease and metal shavings. You really can’t avoid it when you are working on these types of machines every day. Being in Mulund means the traffic can be quite a headache, especially when we are waiting for parts to be delivered. We spend most of our time looking at gears, cables, and mechanical parts. It is heavy work and your hands are almost never clean. We don’t have a receptionist or a fancy waiting room. You just walk into the shop and find us in our work clothes. Sometimes we have to leave the shop to go to a site if a crane has broken down, but we prefer working here where all our tools are. The machines we use are old but they still work and get the job done. It takes a lot of patience to get a custom part to fit exactly right. We drink a lot of tea to stay focused throughout the day. The Mumbai rain makes the metal work a bit more difficult, but we just pull the shutters down and keep going. It is just practical work for people who don't mind dirt.
