Our branch is located at Sudama Sagar, right across from the Gokul Apartments on Karve Road in Dombivli West. It’s a local spot where a lot of people from the neighborhood come to do their banking. We spend most of our time at the counters, talking to folks who need to deposit money or get their passbooks updated. It can get pretty crowded on the first of the month when everyone gets their pensions or salaries. We have those old-fashioned ledgers sometimes, but mostly it is computers now. The fans on the ceiling hum all day long. We know most of our regulars by name, which makes the work feel a bit more personal than those big banks in the city. There is always the sound of the stamp hitting paper and people chatting in the queue. We handle the usual stuff like savings accounts and small loans for local businesses. Some of us have worked here for years and have seen kids grow up and start their own accounts. It isn't a high-tech, shiny office, but it is reliable. We deal with the power cuts and the monsoon rain coming through the door just like everyone else in Dombivli. We just try to be helpful and get the paperwork processed without too much fuss. It is a community thing, really. We stay until the last customer is served and then we close up and head home.
