Chavan Steel

Ghatkopar West is a place that never really stays quiet. Our shop, Chavan Steel, is over at Gala No A 8 in Sheetal Nagar. We are right opposite the Jangleshwar Mahadev Mandir. If you stand by our door, you can hear the bells and the prayers throughout the day. It’s a good spot to be. Dealing with steel is not for everyone because it is heavy and the edges are sharp. Our floor is usually covered in dust and little scraps of metal. We have stacks of heavy material everywhere, and you have to be very careful how you walk around the shop. The gala isn't huge, so we have to be organized or we run out of room fast. In the summer, the heat inside gets pretty intense, but we just open up the front and let the breeze in from the street. It’s a local operation. Most of the people around here know who we are. We see the same faces every day, the guys from the nearby shops and the delivery drivers who struggle to park their trucks in the narrow lanes. We don't spend money on fancy signs or marketing stuff. We just focus on the steel and making sure we cut things the way they need to be. It’s a bit greasy and loud, but it’s our life. We just try to do the job right and keep the place running.
