Chandra Steel Arts

You can find us on the ground floor of Amar Towers in Andheri East. We’re right at 1st Cross, in unit number 10. The shop is usually full of the sharp smell of metal and the loud sound of tools. We do a lot of steel work, mostly custom bits that people ask us for. It’s not a clean art gallery style place at all. There are metal scraps and blueprints scattered all around the workbench. We’ve been working out of this ground floor unit for years now. It’s convenient for loading and unloading the heavy stuff from the trucks. My hands are usually a bit greasy or dusty by the end of a long shift. We don't have a receptionist or anyone answering phones in a separate room. If the bell rings, one of us just wipes our hands on a rag and goes to the door. We make things that last, using the same tools we’ve had since we first started. People from around Andheri come to us when they need something sturdy made out of steel. It’s hard work, but it’s what we know how to do. The lighting isn't great in the back of the shop, but we know where every tool is kept. We don't put on an act for anyone who walks in. We’re just Chandra Steel Arts, and we’re here most days from early morning until late evening when the lights go out.
