Challenger Computer

Challenger Computer is located in a chawl in Mumbai. If you know the 400 066 area, you know how crowded it gets. The space we have is small but we make it work. Computers take up a lot of room with all the wires and monitors everywhere. It gets pretty hot in here because of the machines and the Mumbai weather. We have a couple of fans running all day to keep things moving. Most of our day is spent looking at screens or fixing parts that people bring in. It’s a lot of work and our hands usually get a bit dirty from the dust inside the machines. The chawl has a lot of noise. You can hear people talking outside and children playing in the corridor. It’s a lively place to be. We’ve been here for a bit now and we know most of the people around. We aren't a big showroom with glass windows. It’s just a practical workspace. Sometimes we have to move boxes around just to find a place to sit. It’s a bit messy but that’s how it is when you’re busy. We drink a lot of tea to stay awake during the long afternoons. The rain in Maharashtra can be a problem sometimes, making the walls damp, but we keep the equipment dry. It’s just a regular computer shop in a regular Mumbai chawl. No big story here, just us working in the city.
