Chaitanya C Dalal Co Chartered Accountants has its office at Marina Mansion on the first floor. We are right on SVP Road in the Chowpatty area of Mumbai. If you know Mumbai, you know how noisy and crowded it gets near the beach. Our building is an older one and you can definitely feel the age of the place when you walk up the stairs. The first floor is a good spot because we can hear everything happening on the street. Inside, it's exactly what you would expect from a small office. There are stacks of folders on almost every surface. We have desks that have been here for years and chairs that squeak a little when you sit down. We don't have a fancy reception area. Usually, someone just looks up from their papers when a person walks in. We deal with a lot of numbers and paperwork every day. Sometimes it feels like we are drowning in files, but we eventually get through them. The sea breeze from Chowpatty doesn't really reach us inside, but we know it's there. We spend our time checking figures and making sure the math is right. It isn't very exciting work for most people, but we are used to it. We take our breaks at the local stalls nearby. It's a busy, cramped, and honest way to spend the work day in Mumbai. We just keep our heads down and do the filing.
