Cafe Fumo

Cafe Fumo is tucked into Hubtown Skybay on Bhulabhai Desai Road. We are right in the Breach Candy area of Mumbai, not far from the Mahalaxmi Temple. Being in this part of town means we get a real mix of people coming through our door. Some are visiting the temple and others are just living nearby. We aren't a massive place, so it feels a bit more personal here than some other spots. I didn't want to open a corporate-style cafe where everything looks the same. I wanted something that felt like it belonged in Mumbai. We spend a lot of time just making sure everything is running okay. Some days the delivery trucks are late or the internet goes down, but we just keep going. It’s a busy life, but it’s ours. We don’t use words like "premier" or "elite" because that’s not who we are. We are just a group of people making coffee and food in Breach Candy. The view near the water is nice, even if we are mostly looking at the kitchen walls during our shifts. We’ve had to learn things as we go, like how to manage the rush when a big group walks in unexpectedly. It is an honest business. We hope the people who come in feel okay about the place and the food we serve. We just keep our heads down and do the work every day.
