Bharati Vidya Mandir Night High School & Junior College

Our school is located in the L K Baughji Municipal School Building on Bhimani Street in Matunga East, Mumbai. Because it’s a night school and junior college, our hours are a bit different from most places. We are right in the middle of a busy part of the city, and being in a municipal building means we share space with others. The 400019 area is always humming with activity. Most of the people who come here are working during the day and trying to finish their education in the evenings. It’s a tough schedule for them, but they show up anyway. The classrooms are standard Mumbai municipal style, with old benches and windows that let in the city sounds. It’s not a quiet place, but it’s a place where people work hard. We have teachers who are used to the evening shift and staff who keep the lights on and the records straight. It’s a very honest kind of environment. No one is here for the luxury; they are here to get their certificates and move up in life. We see a lot of determination in the hallways every night. It’s just a regular building in Matunga, but for the people who study here, it’s where they spend their few free hours every day. We don't do anything special, we just keep the doors open for those who want to learn after the sun goes down.
