Bharat Steel Yard

Bharat Steel Yard is based at 3/5 Khetwadi 7th Lane. Khetwadi is one of those old Mumbai neighborhoods where the lanes are narrow and everyone knows everyone. Our yard is tucked into the 7th lane, and it is where we keep all our steel stock. It is not a huge place, so we have to be really smart about how we stack everything. If we do not, we run out of room pretty fast. Most of the day is spent checking the inventory against what people are asking for on the phone. We get a lot of noise from the street, but that is just life in Khetwadi. We have got a small office at the front where we handle the billing and the paperwork. It is nothing special, just a desk, a few chairs, and a ceiling fan that has seen better days. We are not some massive corporation with a bunch of rules. We just do things the way we have always done them. People come to us because they know we have been in the 7th lane for ages. Sometimes we have to move half the yard just to get to one specific piece of steel at the bottom of a pile. It is a bit of a workout, but it keeps us moving. We just take things one day at a time and try to stay organized as much as we can in such a small space.
