If you come down to Kumbharwada, you’ll find us at Amco House near Golo Deve. It’s a heavy industrial area so there is always the sound of metal hitting metal or trucks loading up in the lane. We deal with steel all day long. The air usually smells like iron and there’s a layer of fine grey dust on almost every surface. We don’t have a fancy showroom. It’s more of a functional space where we keep the stock and handle the orders. Most of our day is spent checking measurements and moving heavy pipes or sheets around. It gets hot in the summer, especially with the sun hitting the roof, but we’re used to it by now. The office part is just a small cabin with a couple of chairs that have seen better days. We get a lot of regular contractors who just walk in and tell us what they need for their current site. There is usually a ledger on the desk that stays open all day. Sometimes the phone rings off the hook and other times it’s quiet enough to hear the traffic outside. We don’t do much talk, just get the steel ready and out the door. It’s straightforward work. We’ve been in this spot for years and the locals know where to find us when they need something sturdy. Working with metal isn't for everyone but it keeps us busy and the bills paid through the week.
