Bharat Metal Industries

Our workshop is located at 681 Baburao Jagtap Marg but most people around here still call it Hains Road. We are right in the heart of Byculla West where there is always some kind of industrial work going on. You can hear the sound of metal hitting metal throughout the day and there is usually a bit of grease on the floor. Bharat Metal Industries is where we spend most of our waking hours. It’s not a clean or quiet place but it’s where we get things done. We have a few machines and some workbenches where we handle all the metalwork. The air is often thick with the smell of oil and welding. We don’t have a proper front office so if someone comes to see us they usually just walk right into the work area. We’ve been here at this address for a long time and the building has seen better days but it holds up well enough. Most of the guys have been working here for years and we all know each other’s habits. We don’t bother with fancy brochures or anything. We just take the orders and get to work on the lathes. It’s hard work and it’s usually quite hot inside but that’s just the nature of the business. We just keep the machines running and try to finish our tasks before the day ends. The building is old but the roof doesn't leak much when the rains hit.
