If you head over to Matunga 541 D, you’ll find us there at Battery Point. It’s a small spot, mostly filled with heavy batteries and testing equipment. We’ve been in this part of Matunga for years. The floor is stained from years of moving stock around, and it's not the kind of place where you’d want to wear your best clothes. My hands are usually a bit dirty from checking terminals or lugging those heavy lead blocks around for customers who come in. It's heavy work, honestly. We have stacks of different sizes everywhere, and sometimes it's hard to find the specific one we need right away because the labels get peeled off. The shelves are old wood and they groan a bit under the weight of the inventory. We don't have a fancy waiting room, just a couple of stools if someone needs to sit while we test a unit or charge it up. Traffic on our street can be a nightmare in the evenings, so we usually try to get the heavy lifting done early in the day. Sometimes the power goes out in the neighborhood and we’re the only ones with a bit of light because of what we sell. We don't do much talking other than what's needed for the job at hand. It’s just us, the smell of metal and acid, and a lot of lifting every day. We close up when the work is finally done. It’s a simple life running a shop in a busy place like this.
