If you head over to Chembur East near Chaphekar Chowk, you will find our shop, Battery & Batteries. We have been here long enough that most of the neighbors know where we are. The shop is basically just walls of batteries of all sizes, from those tiny ones for watches to the heavy ones for cars and trucks. It smells a bit like metal and plastic in here, which I guess is normal for a place like this. We spend our time testing voltages and hauling heavy crates around. Chaphekar Chowk is always busy, so there is a lot of honking and traffic noise coming inside. Sometimes we have to shout a bit to be heard over the trucks passing by. Our floor is a bit uneven and the paint is peeling in the corners, but it doesn't really matter for what we do. People come in when their car won't start or when their inverter at home dies. It’s practical work. We don't have a fancy showroom, just a counter and a lot of stock piled up high. My brother and I manage the place, and we usually have some tea around four o’clock while we wait for the evening rush. It is a business that keeps us going day after day. We just sell batteries and make sure they work before the customer leaves. It’s been this way for years and we don't plan on changing much at all.
