Barath Ice Factory

We run the ice factory located at 123/14 on Kirloskar Road in the Kelkar Bagh area. It’s more of a production place than a shop where you’d sit down. Most of our day is spent around the heavy machinery that makes the ice blocks and the smaller bags. It is a loud environment with the compressors running constantly to keep the temperatures down. We have to wear heavy boots because the floors are often wet and cold. It’s hard work, especially during the peak of summer when everyone in town is calling us for more ice. We supply local vendors, restaurants, and people having events. Our trucks are in and out of the yard all day long. Sometimes a machine breaks down and we have to spend half the night fixing it so we don't lose the day’s production. We don't have any fancy offices or anything like that. There is just a small desk where we keep the ledger and take the orders. It’s a bit of an old-fashioned way of doing business, but it works for us. We’ve been on this road for quite some time now, and we know most of the other business owners nearby. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s an important one for the community, especially when the heat hits. We just keep the machines running and the deliveries going. There isn't much more to it than that, just keeping the ice cold and moving.
