The workshop is at 2 Grant Road, inside the Grantha Complex. It is very close to the old Super Cinema, which is a big landmark for anyone around here. Being in Grant Road means it is never quiet. There is always the sound of traffic and people shouting outside. Inside the complex, we are usually busy with welding and cutting metal. You can often see sparks flying if you walk past our door. The air usually smells like burnt iron and machine oil. We have heavy benches where we lay out the frames and the fabrications. It is a gritty kind of job and our clothes are usually covered in some kind of dust or grease by noon. The space is old and the ceiling is high, which helps a bit with the heat from the torches. We have been doing this for a long time in this same spot. People from the neighborhood bring us all sorts of things to fix or build. We don't have a fancy office, just a small corner with a desk where we keep the bills and a landline phone that rings loudly. Sometimes we have to work late when a big order needs to be finished, and the light from the welding masks looks bright against the dark walls of the complex. It is hard work but it is what we know. We just take the jobs as they come and try to keep the machines running smooth.
