B. J. Steel Centre

B. J. Steel Centre is tucked away at 208, Sant Sena Maharaj Marg. Most people just call the building Sant Sena Bhuvan. We are right in the heart of 2nd Kumbharwada, which is a place with a lot of history and even more metal shops. The Gol Devol Temple is just around the corner, and you can always hear the bells or see the crowds during festival times. Our shop is old and the walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but it serves us well. We stock various steel products and it gets pretty cramped in here when a new shipment arrives. Working in Kumbharwada means you get used to narrow lanes and people carrying heavy loads on their shoulders. It’s not an easy place to navigate if you aren’t from around here. We don't have a mission statement on the wall. We just have a calendar and some old photos of the family who started this. It’s a very local way of doing business. We know our customers by their first names and we know who likes their tea with extra sugar. The temple nearby gives the whole area a certain feel, even when the steel business is tough. We just open up in the morning, sweep the floor, and wait for the first customer of the day.
