Ashraj Coffee Works Private Limited is tucked away in Mahim, Mumbai. We are located at Plot No 505 on the 4th Floor of the Owners Industrial Estate on Gabriel Street. Being in an industrial estate means there is always a lot of noise from other businesses around us. The smell of roasting coffee usually fills our floor and sometimes drifts down the stairs. It is an old building, but it works for us. We have the machines for grinding and packing the coffee right here. It is a bit of a walk up to the 4th floor, but you get used to it. The 400016 area is a classic part of Mumbai. We spend a lot of time checking the bean quality and making sure the grinders are set just right. Some days the machines are temperamental and we have to spend an hour fixing a belt or a motor. It’s dusty work with coffee chaff getting everywhere. We don't have a fancy showroom. It’s just bags of coffee beans, some scales, and the packing station. We have been doing this for a while and the rhythm of the work is second nature now. We handle everything from the raw beans to the final packets that people buy. It’s just us and the coffee, day in and day out. It gets pretty hot in the afternoons but the sea breeze from Mahim helps a little bit. We usually keep the windows open to let the air circulate.
