I run this cab service out of Jai Bhim Nagar, which is right on the Aarey Colony Road in Powai. Most days I’m either out on the road or checking on the cars to see if they need oil or a wash. It’s a pretty green area because of all the trees in Aarey, but the traffic can be a real headache during office hours. I started Ashish Shukla Cool Cab Service because I know how hard it is to find a reliable ride that actually has working air conditioning in this heat. My office is just a simple spot where I keep the keys and the logbooks for the drivers. I spend a lot of time on my phone coordinating with drivers or talking to customers who need a drop to the airport or the station. The dust from the road always finds its way inside the office, so I’m constantly wiping down the table with an old rag. It’s not a big corporate operation with a call center. It’s just me and a few guys making sure the cabs are running okay and the drivers are showing up on time. Living and working near Jai Bhim Nagar means I know all the shortcuts around Powai to avoid the worst jams. Sometimes it gets stressful when a car breaks down or a driver doesn't show up, but that’s just how the transport business goes. I like the morning air here before the sun gets too high.
