Kumbharwada is where we are, specifically at 1/3 Durga Devi Street. It’s a tight area, and the streets are narrow, so we’re used to navigating the crowds. Our building is 2 B, and it’s right in the middle of all the metal trade action. This part of town has a very specific smell of old iron and grease. We spend most of our time dealing with different types of metal sheets and rods. It’s a lot of lifting and carrying, which keeps us tired but satisfied at the end of the day. The shop itself is quite old, with shelves that go all the way to the ceiling, packed with all sorts of bits and pieces. We don't have a receptionist or a waiting room. If you come by, you’ll likely see us in our work clothes, probably busy with a customer or sorting out a new shipment. The noise from the street is constant, with horns and people shouting, but after a few years, you just stop hearing it. We’ve had the same guys working here for a long time now. We know the regulars by name and what they usually need for their projects. It’s a very traditional way of doing business, where your word matters more than a fancy contract. Sometimes the electricity goes out for an hour, and we just sit outside and wait it out. It’s just how life goes in Kumbharwada.
