Aqsa Steels

Our shop is at Number 09 in the Madni Estates, right on Lbs Marg in Bhandup. It’s a tight squeeze in this part of Sonapur. We deal in different types of steel, mostly rods and sheets. The estate is always crowded with tempos and people moving things around. We don’t have much space, so we have to be really organized with how we stack the metal. If we put the wrong thing at the bottom, it takes half the morning to get it out. We spend a lot of time on the phone checking prices because they change almost every day. It can be stressful when a customer wants a price we can’t give them. We have a small cutting machine in the back that makes a terrible screeching noise. You get used to it after a while. Most of our regulars are local builders or small workshop owners from around Bhandup West. We drink tea from the plastic cups and sit on old crates when there’s a quiet moment. We aren't a big industrial giant. We are just a small shop trying to make a living in a very busy city. Every day is pretty much the same, just moving steel from one side of the room to the other and then onto a truck. Sometimes we run out of stock and have to wait for the big trailer to arrive from the warehouse.
