Apostolic Carmel High School

Apostolic Carmel High School sits right on 94 Hill Road in Bandra West. If you’ve ever walked down this street, you know how busy it gets with all the shoppers and the cars honking all day long. Our building is a familiar sight for anyone who grew up around here. Inside the gates, things are a bit quieter, but not by much when the kids are out for their break. We have been here for a really long time, and the walls probably have a lot of stories to tell if they could talk. The teachers here mostly use the local trains to get to work, walking from the station like everyone else does in Mumbai. It’s a bit of a trek when it’s raining hard in July, but we all show up anyway. We have classrooms that have seen generations of families pass through. Sometimes a parent comes in to drop off their kid and they point out the desk where they used to sit twenty years ago. It’s just a regular school life, really. We deal with the usual stuff like broken chalk, fans that need fixing, and making sure everyone gets to class on time when the bell goes off. There isn't anything particularly flashy about the way we do things. We just open the gates in the morning and get to work teaching. The lunch breaks are loud, and the stairwells get crowded, but that’s just how it is at a school in the heart of Bandra.
