Amit Steel

Amit Steel is my place in Ghatkopar West, right on the LBS Marg. Our specific spot is C-1-91 in the Vrindavan building. If you know this part of the city, you know how busy it gets with all the trucks and the dust from the road. I spend my days surrounded by metal and the sound of things being moved around. It is a bit loud and the air always smells a little bit like iron, but that is just the way it is in this trade. I have been here for a long time, and the walls of the shop have seen a lot of changes in the neighborhood. We aren't a big fancy corporation, just a local business trying to keep up with the daily orders. The Vrindavan building is a bit of a landmark for us, and it helps people find the shop amidst all the other places on the LBS Marg. Sometimes the inventory gets a bit messy and there are pipes or sheets of steel taking up more space than they should, but we manage to find what we need eventually. I usually have a cup of tea in the morning before the rush starts and the phone begins to ring. It’s hard work, and my hands are usually a bit dirty by the end of the day. There is no air conditioning here, so we just keep the doors open and hope for a breeze. It is honest work and it keeps me busy.
