Ambika Bag

The shop is called Ambika Bag and you can find us at Ram Lochan Chawl in Jogeshwari. We are in the 7th Block of Jaynagar which is a pretty crowded area but we like it here. My family has been doing this kind of work for a long time. We mostly make bags for people who need them for everyday use or for carrying groceries and things from the market. It is not the kind of place where everything is shiny and new. We have some old sewing machines that make a lot of noise but they still work fine for what we need. The space is small so we have bags piled up almost to the ceiling sometimes. It gets a bit dusty with all the fabric scraps lying around on the floor. People from around the chawl come by to chat or see what we are making that day. We don't really do much advertising or anything because word of mouth usually keeps us busy enough. Sometimes it’s hard to find the place if you don’t know the 7th Block well, but we are right there at number 3. We spend most of our hours here from morning until the sun goes down. There isn't a lot of room for extra people, but we manage to get the work out the door. It’s just an honest way to make a living and we’ve been at it for years now.
