Up here in Flat No. 101 of Rita Apartment, things stay pretty busy for Ambe Consultancy Pvt.Ltd. Being in Mumbai means there’s always noise coming in from the street, even when the windows are shut tight. We are right in the 400056 area of Maharashtra and it feels like the heart of the city sometimes. The apartment itself has been converted into our workspace, so it has that lived-in feel which is actually kind of nice compared to those cold glass buildings you see everywhere else. We have files stacked up in the corners and the kitchen area is mostly used for making endless rounds of tea and coffee to keep us going through the afternoon slump. It gets quite humid here, as anyone in Mumbai knows, so we have the fans going full speed most of the year. There are a few of us working here and we’ve gotten used to each other's habits and the way the light hits the desks in the late afternoon. It is a practical setup. We don't spend money on fancy decorations or expensive art for the walls. We just have our computers, our phones, and the work that needs finishing before we head home for the day. Sometimes the elevator in the building is a bit slow, so we take the stairs if we are in a hurry. It’s just a regular office life for us at Rita Apartment.
