Our shop is at 63-A Bhandari Street, which is right in the heart of 1st Kumbharwada. It’s a very old part of the city, near the Round Temple. If you’ve been around here, you know how narrow the lanes are and how much metal is piled up everywhere. We deal in various types of metal. The space is quite small, so we have to be smart about how we stack everything. It’s often loud with the sound of metal clanging or trucks trying to squeeze through the street. We’ve been here for a long time and the building shows its age, but it works for what we need. It’s mostly just a few of us working here, handling the buying and selling. We don’t have a website or any of that new stuff. People just come by or call us on the landline. The floor is usually a bit dirty from the materials, but that’s part of the trade. We know the other shopkeepers on the street well. Sometimes we sit outside on stools when it’s quiet. It’s a very local way of doing business. We don’t try to be anything we aren’t. We just trade metal and try to keep the books balanced. It’s a tough job sometimes, especially in the heat, but it’s what we’ve always done. We keep some cold water in the back for anyone who stops by to talk business or just say hello.
