You can find us over at the Dost Mohammad Building, which is right in the Masjid area. It’s an old building, and it has that specific smell of dust and work that you only find in this part of town. We manufacture things here, so there is always some kind of noise happening in the background. Whether it’s machines running or someone hammering something, it’s rarely quiet. The space isn't huge, but we make it work by stacking things up to the ceiling. If you walk up to the 229/235 section, you’ll see what I mean. We’ve got materials all over the place. Sometimes it feels like we’re tripping over our own feet, but we know where everything is kept. The neighborhood is always crowded with trucks and handcarts, so getting stuff in and out takes a bit of patience. We usually have the fans running full blast because it gets pretty hot in the afternoons. It’s a straightforward setup. We aren't trying to look like a modern office from a movie. We’re just local people making things day in and day out. Most of the guys have been working here for years, so we don't need to say much to each other to get the job done. We just drink our chai, do the work, and head home when the sun goes down. It’s just honest labor in a cramped corner of Mumbai.
