Being in an industrial estate means it’s always loud with the sound of machines and delivery trucks moving around. We work with power units, batteries, and backup systems. It’s a technical kind of job but we don't treat it like it’s anything special. It’s just what we know how to do. The space we have is more of a warehouse than an office, filled with heavy equipment and cables. Most of our days are spent testing units or going out to sites where someone’s power has failed. It can be tiring, especially when you have to carry heavy batteries up some stairs. We don't use any fancy language to describe what we do. If a battery is dead, we tell you it’s dead. We’ve got a small team and we all know our roles pretty well. It’s a bit dusty in the estate, and the roads are always a bit bumpy, but it’s a good place for a business like ours. We have our tea breaks at the stall down the road and talk about the news or the cricket scores. It’s a very grounded way of living. We aren't looking to become some massive corporation. We just want to keep the lights on for our customers and keep our own business running smoothly. It’s a steady job and it keeps us all going.
