Ajaipal Mangal & Co. is up on the fourth floor of the Giriraj Building on Sant Tukaram Road. This is right in the heart of the Iron Market in Masjid Bunder East which is probably one of the busiest places in the whole city. If you’ve ever been down here you know the streets are narrow and full of handcarts and heavy trucks carrying metal beams. Our office at 405 isn't very large and it is usually filled with the sound of the market outside and the ceiling fans whirring overhead. We have been doing business in the iron trade for a long time now. The building is old and the walls could use a fresh coat of paint but it’s where we do our work. We spend our days talking to traders and checking the prices of steel and iron while drinking tea. It’s a lot of paperwork and phone calls to keep everything moving. Masjid Bunder is a tough place to work because it’s so crowded and loud but there is an energy here you don't find anywhere else. We don't use any fancy marketing tricks or have a polished sales pitch. We just know our way around the market and who to talk to when we need something done. The elevator in Giriraj is often busy so we end up waiting a lot or just taking the stairs if we are in a hurry.
