You can find A K Carpets down at 34, Agiary Lane. That's over in the Bazargate area of Fort. It’s a very old part of the city and the streets are narrow. We have been in this building for quite some time now. The light inside isn’t great but we know where everything is kept even in the dark. There are piles of stock everywhere you look. It smells like wool and old paper in here mostly. We spend most of our time unrolling things and rolling them back up again for people to see. The traffic outside in Fort is always loud but once you step into Agiary Lane it feels like a different world. We don't have a big team, just a few of us who have been doing this for years. Sometimes we sit on the front step and watch people walk by to the offices nearby. It's a busy neighborhood but we stay focused on what's inside our walls. The stairs are a bit steep so we have to be careful when we are carrying things up from the ground floor. It is a humble place and we don't try to make it look like anything it isn't. Just a shop in an old lane where we do our work every day from morning until the sun goes down. We've got a small kettle for making tea and that's about the only luxury we have. The floorboards creak when you walk on them and the front door needs a good push to close right. We like the history of the place though. It feels right for what we do.
