A G Steel Works

A G Steel Works is located in Santacruz East, inside the Surjeet Singh Compound at Shree Sainath Society II. It’s a loud place, full of the sound of metal hitting metal and the spark of welding machines. We deal with iron and steel every day. Whether it's making a gate or fixing a frame, we are usually covered in soot and wearing heavy gloves. The compound is a bit cramped, but we managed to fit all our equipment in. We’ve been here in the Shivaj area for a good while. People from around Santacruz know they can bring their metalwork to us. We don't have a receptionist; you usually have to shout over the machines to get our attention. It’s hard work, but we’re used to it. The floor is always covered in metal shavings and offcuts. We take the measurements, cut the steel, and join it all together. It isn't always pretty while we are working on it, but the final product is solid. We don't like to skip steps because steel needs to be strong. Living and working in Santacruz East means we see a lot of different people coming through the society. We just stay focused on the anvil and the torch. It’s a straightforward trade and we’ve been doing it long enough to know the quirks of the metal. If you need something built out of steel, we are right here in the compound ready to work. It is a noisy life but it is ours.
