Out here on J M M Road in Subhash Nagar, it’s always loud with the traffic passing by. Our shop is right in Aslpha Village, basically opposite the Vasani Petrol Pump. We spend the whole day under the hoods of vehicles, fitting tanks and checking valves to make sure everything is tight. It’s greasy work and our hands are usually stained black by noon. The air around the shop smells like oil and metal most of the time. We have been in Miragaon for a good bit now. It’s a small space, A/101, but we make it work with all the tools and cylinders scattered around the floor. Sometimes it takes longer than we thought to finish a job because parts don’t fit right or a bolt is stuck. We don't have a waiting room with a television or anything, just a wooden bench where people sit and watch the traffic go by on the busy road. The petrol pump across the street is a good landmark because people always get a bit lost trying to find the exact lane in Subhash Nagar. We just keep working until the sun goes down and then we clean up the tools. It’s a lot of heavy lifting and physical labor. Every car that leaves the shop is another job done. We don't talk much while working.
