Shree C R Gardi Vidyamandir

Out here in Muli, things move a bit slower than in the big cities like Ahmedabad. Shree C R Gardi Vidyamandir is located right in this part of Surendranagar. It’s a quiet area mostly, though the kids make plenty of noise once they arrive in the morning. Our school building is a plain structure, but it serves us well for our daily lessons. We have a large open space where the children play and gather for assemblies before the sun gets too high in the sky. Because we are in Gujarat, the summers get incredibly hot, so we try to keep the rooms as cool as possible with fans. The walls are painted a light color that’s faded over the years from the sun and the dust. Most of our students come from the nearby villages, some walking quite a distance to get here. We know almost all the families around here because Muli isn't that big. The teachers often stay back to help kids who are struggling with their reading or writing or just to chat about things. We don't have a lot of fancy technology, but we have enough benches and blackboards for everyone. On rainy days, the ground gets a bit muddy, but we just put down some sand and keep going with the lessons. We keep a small garden in the corner, though the goats sometimes get in and eat the plants if the gate is left open. It’s just a regular place for learning.
