K B H Gardi High School is out in the village of Ralol, which is in the Surendra Nagar district of Gujarat. We are the local high school for the kids who live around this area. The zip code is 363423. The school is a simple concrete building with several classrooms and a small office. It gets incredibly hot here in the summer months so we have to keep the fans running all day long. We have a big open yard where the students hang out during their lunch time. Most of the kids come from the farming families in the surrounding district. We don't have any big sports facilities or a gym, just some open space to play cricket or run around. The teachers are mostly local people from the nearby towns. We spend our days teaching the usual subjects and keeping an eye on the students. The school day starts fairly early to beat the heat and ends in the afternoon. It's a peaceful place for the most part, away from the big cities. Sometimes we have to fix a broken desk or a window when they get worn out. We don't have a very big budget to work with, so we make do with what we have on hand. It’s a place where everyone knows their neighbors. You won't find anything flashy here, just a regular school where we try to get through the lessons. We've been here a long time and expect to be here for more.
