Tagore Niketan Model High School

Tagore Niketan Model High School is located on Landran Road in Kharar, just on the outskirts of Chandigarh. If you’ve driven towards Landran, you’ve probably seen our sign. We’ve been here for a good number of years now. Kharar has changed a lot lately with all the new buildings and more traffic, but the school stays pretty much the same. We are a high school, so we’ve got kids from the younger grades all the way up to those finishing their tenth year. The building has seen better days, maybe a fresh coat of paint wouldn't hurt, but it’s sturdy and it works. We have a courtyard where the students gather for morning assembly. It’s quite loud in the mornings when everyone arrives, mostly by bus or parents dropping them off on scooters. Our teachers are local people who understand the community here. We don't have a massive budget for fancy equipment, but we make sure the science lab has what’s necessary and the library has enough books to go around. It’s a regular school for regular families. We don’t make big promises about being the best or anything, we just try to make sure the kids show up, learn something useful, and go home safe. Landran Road is always busy, so we keep a close eye on the front gate. It’s a practical, honest place to get an education for the local kids.
