Swargwasi Gurnam Singh Saini Senior Secondary School

We've been here in Mohan Nagar for quite a while now. Most people around Derabassi know where Swargwasi Gurnam Singh Saini Senior Secondary School is. It’s just a normal building where we try to get through the daily lessons without too much fuss. Every morning, the gates open and the kids from Zirakpur come in with their bags. We’ve got the senior secondary classes here, so things get a bit busy during exam times. It’s not a fancy place, just some classrooms and a playground where the grass grows a bit long in the monsoon. Our teachers live nearby mostly, so they know the families well. Sometimes the fans make noise and we have to get the local repairman in. Life at the school follows the seasons. When it’s hot, we try to keep the rooms cool, and when it’s winter, everyone sits out in the sun during the break. We don't have big fancy billboards. Most of our students come because their older brothers or sisters came here before them. We just focus on finishing the syllabus and making sure everyone behaves. There’s always someone running in the corridors even when we tell them not to. It’s just how it is. We deal with the paperwork, the midday breaks, and the occasional parent meeting. It’s a steady routine here in this part of town. We just keep the lights on and the books open every day for the students.
