Bharat Pet Stores is located at 570 Lal Kurti, right in the heart of Bara Bazar in Meerut Cantt. It’s a lively spot to be. There’s always something going on outside our door in the market. I’ve lived in Meerut Cantt most of my life, so I know a lot of the people who walk past every day. The shop isn't huge, but we pack it full of whatever we need for the animals. It smells a bit like grain and pet supplies, which I’ve grown to like over the years. We spend most of the day talking to customers and helping them figure out what their pets need. It’s not a quiet job. Between the noise from the bazar and the folks coming in, there is never a dull moment. I usually sit on a small stool behind the counter when things slow down. We have some regular customers who come in just to chat for a bit. The shelves are a bit crowded and sometimes it takes a minute to find the right size of something. But that’s just how it is in a local store. We’ve been at 570 Lal Kurti for a long time. It’s a family-run kind of thing. We don’t have a website or any of that, we just open the doors every morning and see who comes in. It’s a simple way to make a living.
